TBC make it 3 from 3 in Men’s Super League

October 12, 2016

Templeogue Basketball Club continued their perfect start to the 2016/2017 Basketball Ireland Men’s Super League season with an 85-60 win over neighbours Commercial.ie Eanna last Saturday evening in front of a packed Colaiste Eanna. TBC made their intent known early in the game with Jason Killeen, Mike Bonaparte and Stephen James all blocking Eanna baskets in the first 3 minutes. TBC, cheered on by a majority crowd, were exceptional in the first half winning the first quarter 11-24, and the second quarter 13-25.

With a 25 point lead at halftime coach Mark Keenan used the opportunity to make numerous changes. Alan O’Neil came off the bench to play his first game for TBC in over 3 years and it wasn’t long before he was on the scoresheet, hitting a superb 3. Another future star for TBC, seventeen year old Sam Walsh, also made his senior debut and showed no signs of inexperience at this level.

Lorcan Murphy was again at his very best scoring 21 points, while Mike Bonaparte scored 17 points and had 15 rebounds. Jason Killeen used all of his 6′ 10.5″ frame to score 16 points and had 8 rebounds, including 5 blocks. Neil Randolph continued where he left off against Killester with another 3 triples, although not all of them in a row, and finished the game with 14 points.

TBC’s next game is part of the Basketball Ireland Men’s Super Series which sees them in a Top of the Table Clash against the only other unbeaten team in the Super League, UCD Marian. Tip off this Sunday in the National Basketball Arena at 6pm. Admission is €5 and U16’s are free.
