Super League Report: Templeogue vs KUBS

November 21, 2016

A cold Thursday night saw a great home crowd turn up for the Dublin Derby between newly promoted KUBS and unbeaten Templeogue BC.  Mid-week fixtures are always a challenge, coming from work/college to play a top level game means only the fittest win; and even though Templeogue got off to a poor start, by their standards, a win was always on their minds.

Without Michael Bonaparte, an energised Puff Summers joined the starting line up and showed he meant business from the start with his impressive shooting.  A tough physical battle ensued under the boards, as big man Jason Killeen worked hard.  Neil Randolph, who was quiet last week against Star, decided tonight was to be his night as he hit a 19 point game high together with 14 Rebounds, 6 steals, 4 assist, 2 blocks and only 3 fouls in a toughly fought 40 mins.

Former Templeogue BC player, Conor James came off the bench for KUBS to add 12 points to their score, however, little brother and Templeogue Captain Stephen wasn’t going to be outdone and added an impressive 19 points, including 4 big three pointers.  With Jason in foul trouble Ben Warrington, came off the bench to add depth to the defensive and proved worthy of his selection as KUBS only managed 8 points to Templeogues 21 in the third quarter.  Lorcan suffering with a bruised foot, was being careful, so we only had a few trademark dunks and a mere 16 points.

A welcome weekend off is the reward for the only unbeaten team, and an away trip to Limerick awaits the lads next Saturday – November 26th at 7.30pm in UL PESS Building.

December 10th will see the team travel to take on the might of Tralee Warriors who are claiming an unbeaten at home record – with huge crowds attending the games, and the gym full an hour before tip off, we would love to see as many of the faithful Red Army travel. We are planning on staying over for Christmas drinks, so if anyone is interested in travelling rooms are available in The Rose Hotel at a rate of  €40 per person sharing B&B – www.therosehotel.com

Quote Templeogue Basketball for the above rate.
